Like it was yesterday

I don’t know about you, but I can transport myself back to my youth pretty vividly. I can instantly imagine certain days with friends. Who was there, what it looked like, smelled like and felt like. It’s strange as I’ll find myself in line at a grocery store where someone is cranky and everyone is looking forward … and I instantly transport myself to being 7 in grade school and everyone in that grocery store suddenly looks like kids to me. Kids waiting in line to get on the bus. Or kids I just haven’t met yet as we wait in line for our small carton of milk and hoping it tater tot day. It’s like a superpower to be able to instantly feel young again.

The memory can be quite a powerful thing, comforting you when you need it most. Reminding you of better times and even the tough times that made you who you are today.

I can remember… can you?
